The GOV.UK Developer Toolkit (GDS Service Portal) is a library of reusable, GDS-compliant portal widgets and embeddable components that let ServiceNow developers and partners build citizen-facing portals for UK government customers fast, with minimal customization.
The GOV.UK Developer Toolkit (GDS Service Portal) June 2026 release ships 12 components — all as GDS-compliant Service Portal widgets:
- GDS Portal SDK V1 — foundation (portal record, theme record, GDS branding/typography/layout)
- Homepage
- Catalogue — browse available services
- Case Detail — view status, history, communicate with caseworkers
- Case List — track open and closed cases
- Knowledge Page — self-service articles
- Profile — view/update contact information
- FAQs
- Error Pages (404/403, service problem)
- Record Producer — submit applications and requests
- Login
- Register
GDS Page patterns have been added to October 2026 release to include these GDS Page patterns:
- Question pages - forms experience where the questions are surfaces one by one on the UI, and the user can see their responses at the bottom and make changes to them
- Step by step navigation - Where a user can see all the steps required to complete a task in one view
- Confirmation page - Where a user sees the confirmation page after submitting their answer to the last question.
- Exit a page - this buttons gives users a way to quickly and safely exit a service, website or application.
This version adds three GDS page patterns to the GDS portal which are:
